CLC (Community Learning Centre) SEKA PENAN - PACOS
SEKA PENAN has been established as a result of greater awareness by the community on the importance of early childhood education. This will help children from rural areas that have no preschools facilities to get their early education and prepare them for primary schools. Apart from that, other reasons were due to the inexistence of government preschool in the area and also due to the distance.
Objectives:
-
To prepare Seka Penan children for their primary school using the preschool standard curriculum from the Education Ministry and other programmes based on local material, mother tongue, local cultures and values.
-
To give supplementary education on health, nutrition, child development and environment.
-
To promote and strengthen positive indigenous values, culture and beliefs that strengthen the community across generations.
-
To promote and share issues concerning gender, land, economy, indigenous knowledge and other issues connected with children.
-
To strengthen ECD skills in families, communities and also childcare centres.
-
To increase awareness on the importance of non-formal and formal education among indigenous communities.
