Speaker 5: Todd Wayne Saurman (Asia SIL Ethnomusicology Coordinator and Mainland Southeast Asia Group Ethnomusicology Consultant SIL International)
Todd Saurman has a BS in Music Therapy, an MA in Intercultural Studies/Ethnomusicology, and completed a Ph.D. in Social Science at Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He has worked in Asia with SIL International for the last 22 years as an advocate for the music and arts of ethnic minority groups. In Thailand, he works for Mahidol University in Bangkok Thailand and trains others as catalysts for the creation of culturally relevant arts throughout Asia.
Conference Venue
The conference will be held at the Damai Beach Resort, a beautiful hotel nested between the Bornean jungle and the South China sea, about 1 hour drive from Kuching, Sarawak.
The conference will begin on Tuesday, 20th. September at 8.00 am. The conference will end on Thursday, 22nd. of September with a celebratory dinner.
Those coming from outside Sarawak are encouraged to arrive on Monday, 19th September and leave on Friday, 23rd September, 2016. Please note the hotel check-in time is 2:00pm onwards and check out time is 12:00 noon.

To register for MIPCE II please complete the Conference Registration Form and pay the conference’s registration fee (RM50 for locals and U$50 for foreigners*).

You can opt for single or double occupancy. Triple occupancy is subject to availability.
The hotel will provide wireless and broadband internet access to all guests as a complimentary in your room and hotel lobby. Participants are responsible for all other personal expenses, (e.g. telephone calls, room service, etc.), and dinners on the first and second night of the conference.
Travel to and from the airport
Complimentary airport transfer (airport to hotel/hotel to airport) is available. Please inform us of your arrival and departure times in the conference registration form if you would like to use this service.

Limited scholarships are available for Indigenous Malaysian participants only. Please contact the secretariat and give details of your need.
Papers and presentations
The conference has limited space for papers and presentations from participants.
Participants who wish to present their related work (such as research, reviews and reports) within the thematic tracks in a 90 minute workshop or a 30 minute parallel session may submit their abstracts for review to the Secretariat (mipce16@gmail.com) by 31 July 2016. Selected presentations will be notified by 15 August 2016.
