Those arriving or leaving on different days will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the hotel at their own expense. Taxis to Damai Beach Resort can be hired at the airport at the designated booths. The hotel also provides shuttle services for a fee. Please let the hotel know by phone (+60 82-846999) or at check-in if you need this service.
Parking. For those commuting from Kuching city, parking spaces will be available. Please use the parking lot that is closer to the Sunset Ballroom (to the far left).
Check-in and Registration. At arrival, please check in with the hotel and then make your way to the MIPCE II registration table (near the lobby area) to collect your name tag and conference materials. For security reasons the hotel has asked that participants wear their name tag at all times. Name tags will also be required to access the dining halls.
Dinner on Monday the 19th will be the first meal provided for participants. The hotel will stop serving at 9:00 pm, so plan accordingly. Lunch that day will not be provided, but there is a food court within easy walking distance of the hotel.
Dress Code. Please wear formal or traditional attire for the opening ceremony. On the second day you are encouraged to wear the MIPCE II Tshirt for our group photo.
Reimbursements. On the afternoon of the 20th from 5-7 pm, the organizers will receive claims for those who need reimbursement. Please bring all original receipts. On the following day the organizers will distribute the reimbursement funds.
Interpretation. Translation to BM will be available. If possible, please bring headphones to access translation through your phone.
Computers. The hotel will have complimentary wifi connection. Power outlets are not provided. One of the workshops during the conference will be about a book-making software called Bloom. If you are interested in this workshop, bring your laptop computer so you can actively participate.
Closing Dinner. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we won’t be able to have our closing dinner at the Sarawak Cultural Village. The closing dinner will now be held at Damai Beach Resort. It will be casual – beach party style.
Field Visits. Due to the many requests we had for the field visits and in order to accommodate as many as possible, the visit to the DBNA MLE Playschools has been divided into two groups, with a group going to Kampung Sinjok and another to Kampung Benuk. A third group will be going to Kampung Apar to visit the Iban program at the government school. More details about the field visits will be given during the conference. Please note that after the field visits, participants will be taken to the airport or to DBNA headquarters and will need to make their own arrangements from there, so be sure to check out of the hotel prior to leaving on the school excursions.
Emergency contact number. Josak Siam (60) 16 890 4714.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
